Things to Do: Hattiesburg GeoTour

Hattiesburg GeoTour

Get outside and explore Hattiesburg in a way like never before! The Hattiesburg GeoTour is a fun and unique way to discover The Hub City and find things you’ve never seen before.

About Hattiesburg GeoTour

Presented by Visit Hattiesburg, the Hattiesburg GeoTour is the first of its kind in the state of Mississippi. With more than 40 geocache hides, Hattiesburg offers one of only 100 active, official GeoTours worldwide.

Ready to explore Hattiesburg? You can complete this GeoTour during a weekend trip to The Hub City, all while enjoying other things the city has to offer, including restaurants, shopping and local events.

So, what exactly is geocaching? Geocaching is a free, outdoor activity in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) or mobile device to hide and seek containers called “geocaches” or “caches.” These caches are hidden at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world, and in our case, Hattiesburg.

How it works

To get started on your Hattiesburg GeoTour, visit geocaching.com to register a username. The basic membership is free. From there, you will need to download the Geocaching app to your smartphone and search Hattiesburg GeoTour (GT4BF).

You can download the app from the App Store or on Google Play. After that, you can start your search around Hattiesburg!

When you find a cache, sign the log and write the code word on your passport. You will also want to log your find in the app or on geocaching.com.

After you locate at least 35 hidden caches on the Hattiesburg GeoTour, you can turn your passport in to receive your official geocoin.

You can turn it in at T-Bones Records & Cafe Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at The Lucky Rabbit on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
